William Pitt Union

Enter the William Pitt Union from Fifth or Forbes Avenue. Exit the building on Forbes Avenue or through the Quad. Be prepared to tap/swipe your Pitt ID and use the thermal scanner at all entrances.

Study Spaces

The William Pitt Union has 7 available study lounges that are accessible for the Fall 2020 semester, including two unique spaces for Graduate Students and Commuter Students. Study spaces are equipped with new maximum occupancy signs and complimentary cleaning wipes to use before and after each visit. Lounges can be found on the 9th, 6th, 5th, 3rd, 1st, main, and lower floors.

Commuter Spaces

The Commuter Student Lounge is a shared space for commuter students to take a break and relax during the day between their classes. The Commuter Student Lounge, is located on the lower level of the William Pitt Union, next to Schenley Café dining area. The space is equipped with a microwave and comfortable furniture. The room capacity is 7 people, and students should adhere to all health and safety signage.

William Pitt Union and O’Hara Student Center Reservations

In order to conduct ANY in-person activity, either on-campus or off-campus, all student organizations must have the activity approved by Student Affairs. If you are processing requests through an academic unit, you must ALSO go through this process to have the activity approved by Dean Bonner.

Requesting In-Person Activity

  • EMS Reservations: Use this form for any reservation that can be made through EMS. This includes the following spaces:
  • On-Campus Reservations Outside of EMS: Use this form for any on-campus reservation that is not available through EMS. This includes the Cathedral Lawn. Requests for the Lawn must be submitted 30 days in advance.
  • Off-Campus Activities: Use this form for ANY off-campus activity, including travel. (Exception: club sports)
  • All Club Sports: Both competitive and recreational Club Sports should use this form for ALL activity requests.

Student Organization Spaces

Thanks to Student Government Board, storage spaces are currently being allocated for the Fall 2020 semester including the OSC student offices, OSC cage spaces, and WPU lockers. More updates to come from the Chief of Staff of SGB for those who applied. At this time, the application period has closed.

Student organizations can access their assigned locker, cage, or office spaces when front desks are open at both unions.
