Pitt Program Council will present the same type of high-quality programs as we have in the past during the current school year. View upcoming events on the Pitt Program Council website.

In the High Risk Posture, we will be presenting programs and operating our office virtually.

In the Elevated Posture, we will provide over 90% of our programs virtually and a few small outdoor programs in-person when appropriate.  The office will be open from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and virtually 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Please note that if students are not permitted to attend classes in person, we will only operate the office and present programs virtually.

In the Guarded Posture we will present events virtually as well as in-person where appropriate. The office will be open from Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

PITT ARTS

PITT ARTS engages Pitt students across all academic disciplines and majors in the arts and culture of Pittsburgh. The program has free Arts Encounters, and during the University’s Guarded Risk Posture, this range at popular programs will be available virtually from all around the country and world live on YouTube, with a small number of in-person programs.

Free Museum Visits

In-person visits are available with various restrictions; some are timed tickets, others must be called or emailed, and others, students can visit by coming into the museum. All undergraduate and graduate and professional students on the Pittsburgh campus must bring their current student ID’s with them when visiting a museum. Artful Wednesdays

Artful Wednesdays will take place virtually during the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters. The remaining Artful Wednesdays for this fall include: Warp Trio of New York City, and Israeli bassist, Adam Ben Ezra. View upcoming performances and watch Artful Wednesday live on YouTube.

Undergraduate students should watch for PITT ARTS e-newsletters for the following virtual programs: The Tell-Tale Heart, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll, and a PITT ARTS Open Mic Night collaboration with Pitt’s Center for Creativity to name a few.

PITT ARTS has collected Black art for installing around the campus. For more information, contact Annabelle Clippinger at pittarts@pitt.edu.

At this time, with all the cancellations and postponements of arts organizations’ programming this fall, deeply discounted tickets or Cheap Seats are not available now, but it may be possible to see a small amount of them available in the spring of 2021.  Keep an eye on the PITT ARTS website at pittarts.pitt.edu or write pittarts@pitt.edu.

Office Hours

PittServes will open physical office Tuesday and Thursday – 8:30 a.m. -5:00 p.m. Appointments are strongly encouraged in advance. Please contact the program and/or PittServes team member in advance of coming to the PittServes office.

We empower college students to serve in under-resourced preschool classrooms in the Pittsburgh community to close the kindergarten readiness gap. Apply to volunteer through Jumpstart.

Fall Term First-Year Student Book Club

How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi

The First-Year Student Book Club is sponsored by the Office of New Student Programs and the Office of Student Life, and free to all participating students. This year, we will be reading Ibram X. Kendi’s How To Be an Antiracist.

The Book Club will meet for a total of 3 virtual discussion events which will occur in October and November. Check out our speakers and discussion dates below! Upon completion of the program, students will receive a Certificate of Completion and Outside the Classroom Curriculum (OCC) credit.

Student Organization Resource Center

Over 700 undergraduate and graduate/professional student organizations are registered with the Student Organization Resource Center (SORC).  Students can visit the Student Organization Directory for a full listing of these student organizations.  Search the directory by using keywords or the category drop down box on the left side of the screen.  Once on a student organization page, click on the blue “Join” button in the upper righthand corner of the screen or use the student organization contact info listed on the site to reach out to the student leaders of that organization.  Our student organizations are eager to interact with potential members, so don’t hesitate to reach out to them!
